Stacy previously studied Judo, BJJ and Ju Jitsu, becoming an instructor for Ju Jitsu for several years, specialising in teaching kids. Looking for a self defence system that was more practical in real world situations, Stacy came to realise that Krav Maga was what he was looking for. “In Krav Maga, the primary goal is to get yourself to safety as quickly and efficiently as possible. It is not about ‘beating’ the other person, or ‘winning’ an encounter. It is about removing yourself from danger. Krav Maga has nothing to prove. It is not about show or ego, it’s about being safe.”
He started training Krav Maga in 2013 and received his Kid’s Instructor certification from Zeev Cohen in 2015 and full Instructor certification from Ilya Dunsky in 2016. Krav Maga for kids and youth places emphasis on the development of important personality traits such as: restraint, self-discipline, courage, self-confidence, the ability to make decisions in stressful situations and the understanding of when to use the acquired knowledge. Stacy combines safely learning these techniques with fun games and scenarios.
Josh has been training Parkour and Free-running for 7 years through Brisbane Parkour Association, where he reached the level of instructor in his third year of training. Josh has had considerable experience in martial arts and athletic disciplines besides Parkour, such as Taekwondo, boxing, and gymnastics. Through his experience as an instructor, Josh learned how to break down individual moves safely, link moves together in a fun and engaging way, and alter his teaching style to accommodate different students with different skill levels.
In this class, Josh will be offering a program for all age levels that covers the fundamental basic Parkour movements and philosophy, “To be is to last”. He will set the foundations for students to continue their training as well as utilise their skills if they are in a situation that requires it – and also to have fun and view exercise more as an engaging exploration experience and less as a chore.
